Southern Railway official arrested
Chennai, Oct 1(UNI) Sleuths of the CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer, Southern Railway, on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for releasing payment to a contractor.
Ramakrishnan, an approved contractor for Southern Railway, Chennai, who had executed three contracts of electrical works worth Rs one crore in his complaint to the Superintendent of Police, CBI-ACB yesterday, said the official S Sheshadri had demanded Rs one lakh for clearing his bills.
Based on his complaint, the sleuths laid a trap and arrested the railway official when he accepted a bribe of Rs 25,000 as first installment from Ramakrishnan.
The official who was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases, remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.
