Smuggled gold recovered in Tripura
Agartala, Oct 1 (UNI) Customs sleuths have recovered a sizable amount of gold from a bus passenger, whow as subsequently arrested near Sipahijala Wildlife Sanctuary last night.
About 175 gm gold worth Rs 2.58 kakh was sezied from the arrested man, who was handed over to the police.
During interrogation he admitted that he had carried gold in two other previous occasions as remuneration of cattle lifting to Bangladesh and police launched investigation in reference to his statement.
Elsewhere, West Agartala police had seized 1720 bottles of foreign liquor contained in 42 cartons from Auto Truck at Post Office and arrested the driver.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid police recovered a country made gun from the house of accused on Laxminder Tripura (39), resident of Piparia khola village of South Tripura yesterday.
