Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 1: Muslims in Kerala on Wednesday, Oct 1 celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the month-long dawn-to-dusk Ramadan fasting, penance and prayers.
Dressed in their best attires, large numbers of Muslims thronged Mosques and at specially-erected Idgahs. They exchanged greetings with their co-religionists and shared sweets and other food stuff.
Thousands participated in the Idgahs in Thiruvananthapuram Kochi and Kozhikode.
Religious leaders called upon all faithfuls to work for universal brotherhood and maintain peace in the society.
A report from Kozhikode said Muslims in large numbers assembled at the specially erected Idgahs in Kozikode beach, Mananchira and Jaffar Khan colony and other mosques to offer prayers.
Kozhikode senior Qazi Nalakath Mohammed Koya leaders Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker and P Aarifali, were among others who addressed the gathering.
