Vadodara, Oct 1 (UNI) The city police today claimed to have got some vital leads in the mysterious terror mails which have virtually kept the Gujarat state police on tenterhooks since the serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26.
Talking to mediapersons here, police commissioner Rakesh Asthana said the city police had so far received more than 500 terror mails posted from Vadodara to different important government and private institutions across the state.
"We have found some leads and hope to nab the miscreant behind these threat letters soon," the police chief said, adding all the letters sent by post to each and every vital organisations and religious places in and outside Vadodara threatening bomb attack were written by one individual in the name of "Jehadi SIMI." He, however, refused to divulge anything about the suspect.
Even as all such threats were found to be hoax till date, police continued to carry out search operations, with the help of bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs almost every day to ease tension being triggered by such mails.
As the miscreant continued to post hoax threat letters, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the city police now investigating into the case, are reportedly keeping a close vigil on post offices mostly in sensitive areas in order to nab the culprit.
