Leicester City to play three matches in Goa

Panaji, Oct 1 (UNI) The youth Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) from UK will play three football matches in Goa to help promote the game under the banner of 'Leicestar India football link'.

Recently, Leicester City Football Club tied-up with Goa for the development of football.

The Goa Football Association (GFA), Secretary, Mr Savio Messais speaking to mediapersons here today, said the visiting team will arrive on October 19 and will play their first match against Guardian AngeL School, Savordem, which is the Champion school of Goa, at Nehru stadium Fatorda on October 20. The visitors will play against Goa U-15 team, at Poriat on October 22 and Leicestar City's third match is against Goa XI at Duler Ground Mapusa on October 24.

The coaching staff of the Leicester City team will also conduct a workshop for coaches and physical Education teachers on October 21, he added.

Mr Savio said Goa team was presently playing in the Sub Junior National in Punjab and expected to return next week.

He said that the Leicester India Football link will fund a scholarship schemes, enabling one under 14 player from Goa, who will be selected by the Leicester City Footall coaches to travel to Leicester to train with the Academy for a two week period.
