Srinagar, Oct 1 (UNI) The call given by the Coordination Committee for march to Lal Chowk on October 6 remains unaltered, chairmen of both factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) announced here today.
Speaking at Id-ul-fitr congregation at Eidgah ground here Mr Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq said there was no change in the call given by the committee for 'Lal Chowk chalo' on October 6.
Appealing to the people to make the march a grand success, they said it would remain a peaceful affair.
They also appealed to youths not to indulge in violence and provocative slogans during the rally.
Similar appeals were also made at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad and other places.
The CC, an alliance of both factions of the HC, separatists, traders federations, lawyers and others, is demanding among other things release of all detenues, withdrawal of troops, special powers to security forces and opening of all routes with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir for trade and free movement.
The call for Lal Chowk march was actually given by the CC for August 24. However, authorities imposed curfew in the entire Srinagar district and other major towns of the valley.
Mr Geelani, Mirwaiz Omar, JKLF chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik and other senior separatist leaders were arrested to prevent them from leading the march.
Official sources said this time too the authorities would not allow the march.
