JNTU to start PG prog in Nuclear Engineering

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 1(UNI) The newly-created Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here will be introducing PG programme in Nuclear Engineering, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in the State, during the current academic year.

Vice Chancellor A Appa Rao told reporters Prof J S Rao, an alumni of the JNTU College of Engineering and a doyen of designing fusion reactors, had agreed to be the advisor to JNTU and impart necessary orientation training to the faculty members for the course.

The proposal to bring all the defence research projects under the single roof of JNTU would also materialise soon, he added.

Prof Appa Rao said the University required a minimum of 500 acre for its campus and proposals were sent to State Government accordingly.

He hoped the JNTU would find a place in the area earmarked for the Kakinda Special Economic Zone.

Admissions Incharge T Satyaprasad said the intake for the course would be 18. Those with B.Tech Degree in civil,mechanical, chemical, electrical and metallurgy branches were eligible. The two-year PG programme would commence during November.
