Pune, Oct 1 (UNI) Havaldar Jehangir snatched an unassailable eight stroke lead over local lad Manish Jaitha on the second day of Mid-Amateur National golf championship at the Poona Club golf course in Yeravada here today.
Displaying immaculate consistency, Jehangir carded 7 over 79 to have an overall score of 149. On the other hand Manish Jaitha, the Poona Club Golf Captain had 9 over 81 to bring his aggregate of 156.
One stroke behind them is Shivasnath, who produced a card of 7 over 79.
The senior Amateur national championship for over 55, saw the home grown veteran V T Date, who gained a 7 stroke lead over former double gold medalist of the 1982 Asian Games Laxman Singh with a score of 3 over 72. Date, the defending champion in the section, is leading with an overall score of 149 followed by Jaitha 156. In the third place is Vijay Kohim with a total of 158. Vijay tied with Gangesh Kaitan at 158 as well.
A toal of 13 golfers in the Mid- Amateur and 20 in the senior amateur section have made the cut.
