Jammu, Oct 1: The troops of Border Security Force (BSF) today foiled an infiltration bid, second within five days, when a group of armed militants tried to sneak into Indian Territory from International Border in Kanachak area of Akhnoor Sector in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

''The firing started late last night at around 1130 hrs from across the border when some infiltrators were trying to enter the Indian side from a forward post near Tent Post in Kanachak area,'' a senior BSF official told UNI.

However, he asserted that the troops of 141 Bn BSF retaliated promptly and pushed back the infiltrators as the firing continued for around 15 minutes.

Earlier on September 27, a group of militants were stopped by the BSF troops of 26 Bn when they were trying to cross into this side of the border in Pargwal sub sector of Akhnoor Sector.

''The infiltrators were supported by the Pak rangers as they fired on Chak Fagwari Border Out Post (BOP) on the International Border to give cover fire to them, which has become a routine as Pakistan is continuously violating the ceasefire agreement,'' official sources added.

However, a group of armed militants successfully entered Indian Territory from across the border on the intervening night of August 25 and 26 through International Border in Kanachak area followed by a fierce gunbattle with the security forces on August 27 at Chinore in which eleven people, including three fidayeens, were killed.
