Meghalaya: BDR hands over two NDFB cadres
Shillong, Oct 1: The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) has handed over two Indian insurgents of the proscribed National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) to authorities in Meghalaya, police said today.
Senior BDR officials handed over the two cadres to the BSF officials yesterday through the Dalu border point in West Garo Hills district, 350 km from here, police said.
The NDFB militants, convicted by a court in Bangladesh, were identified as G Rapid and B Phukan.
Police officials said the duo were arrested from Dobaura area under Mymensingh district of Bangladesh on May 19, 2004 for illegally entering that country.
''The two hardcore ultras went to Bangladesh for guerilla warfare training in NDFB camps,'' they claimed.
Police said both the cadres were wanted in Assam and Meghalaya for committing a number of crimes.
BSF officials were interrogating the rebels before handing them over to the state police.
