Aviation City to come up in MP
Bhopal, Sep 30 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today approved an investment proposal for setting up a special economic zone (SEZ) over 7,561.74 acres in Gwalior district that will include an Aviation City, official sources said.
A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here, gave its nod to the SEZ that would be constructed by the Gwalior Agriculture Company Limited, Dabra. Initial investment will be Rs 1,200 crore, the sources said.
The Aviation City will have an Aviation Hub, Cargo Logistics Hub and the SEZ would also have Food-Processing and Biotechnology parks.
The SEZ is estimated to provide employment to about one lakh people over a period of about five years, they said.
The Cabinet also decided to transfer 17,138 hectares to the Centre for allotment to the South Eastern Railway for gauge conversion of the Gondia-Jabalpur line.
A sum of Rs 987.71 crore was sanctioned for four major irrigation projects--the Kali Sindh Mega Project, Bansujara Dam, Ganeshpura Dam Project and Bilgaon Medium Reservoir Project--which would irrigate a total 1.27 lakh hectare, the sources added.
