VRO held for bribery by Anti Corruption Bureau
Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) Village Revenue Officer (VRO) of Yadika Village of Vizianagaram district here was arrested today by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on bribery charges.
According to a release, R Chalapathi Rao was caught red-handed when he accepted a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a complainant to do an official favour.
The officials recovered the amount from the accused who would be produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases.
In another case, Assistant Audit Officer (Retd) Md Basheer, State Audit, ZP Kadapa District was given a penalty of withholding 25 per cent pension for a period of five years.
Basheer had irregularly sanctioned superannuation pension and other terminal benefits to S A Gaffar, Junior Auditor (Retired), State Audit ZP Kadapa and forwarded the pension papers to the Accountant General here without taking into account that an ACB prosecution case was pending against him. Hence, a departmental enquiry was initiated against him.
