Chennai, Sep 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi today took exception to Communist Party of India (CPI) not inviting the DMK for the fast being organised here on October two on the Sri Lanka Tamils issue.
Answering a set of questions, Mr Karunanidhi said the CPI could have decided against inviting DMK, as it knew that the party (DMK) had been fighting for the cause of the Lankan Tamils, right from the beginning.
In a sarcastic tone, the DMK leader said the CPI would have thought it fit to invite parties which were against the Tamils and parties which were extending partial support. (The AIADMK and the nascent DMDK, headed by actor Vijayakanth have extended support to the fast).
However, the Tamils, were well aware, as to which parties had interest in them and which parties were displaying fake support, he said, adding the DMK had even lost power in 1991, for taking up the cause of the Tamils.
The stand of the DMK and the State Government towards the Tamils issue was well known, he said and wished leaders of various political parties while taking part in the fast talk about the resolution adopted in the State assembly on April 23.
On PMK leader S Ramadoss's diatribe against him for not promoting Tamil language, the Chief Minister said Dr Ramadoss, while boasting of fighting for the cause of Tamil language, has admitted his grand-daughter at the Mater Dey Convent in Delhi.
