Rs 25 lakh
Patna, Sep 30 (UNI) The Bihar government today decided to deduct Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh each from the Local Area Development Fund of MLAs and MLCs for the execution of rehabilitation works in the flood-hit areas of North Bihar.
Official sources said the decision to this effect was taken at the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The Cabinet decision on deduction of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh from the local area development fund of Legislators was taken in accordance with the resolution, adopted at an all party meeting, convened here a few days back to discuss the flood situation in Bihar, sources said.
As per rules, the local area development fund could be spent only in the constituencies of the Legislators, sources added.
To remove this obstacle, the Cabinet had decided to deduct the money for rehabilitation in the flood-hit areas from the general outlay of the local area development fund of MLAs and MLCs, sources stated.
Several other decisions were also taken by the state Cabinet.
