Chennai, Sep 30 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today staged a demonstration in front of the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission here, protesting against the attack on Tamils by the Lankan armed forces.
Leading the stir, PMK founder-leader S Ramadoss accused the Lankan Government of carrying out a genocide to wipe out Tamils in the Island.
Calling upon the people of the state to come together to save their brethren in the Island, the PMK leader said, Tamils living in other parts of the world have a feeling that the people of Tamil Nadu have not offered their fullest support to the Lankan Tamils.
Dr Ramadoss urged the state Government and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to take suitable action to end the atrocities on the Tamils. He also demanded that the Assembly meet in the next fortnight and adopt a resolution, in support of separate Eelam.
Demanding this plea, 1000 Tamils would assemble at the island grounds here and hold out torches, in a symbolic way of showing the light to Eelam.
If the DMK Government failed to adopt a resolution, PMK MLAs would troop inside the state Assembly, occupy a portion of it and stage a relay fast, the PMK leader warned.
Dr Ramadoss said party's other wings would carry out the agitation till a solution was achieved.
