Load shedding planned in K'taka
Bangalore, Sep 30 (UNI) Karnataka Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa today said the Power Department had planned to enforce load shedding for two-hours in urban areas and six hours in rural areas following increase in power consumption in the State.
Mr Eshwarappa told reporters here the load shedding would be temporary and undertaken for better management of power supply.
The demand for power had gone up to 116 MU. Hence, it become necessary to resort to load shedding.
The Energy Minister said the State Government was planning to take a delegation to New Delhi urging the Centre to increase generation capacity from 2000 MW to 4000 MW from the proposed Ultra Mega Power Project in Bijapur District.
