Crude bombs used in Mah, Gujarat blasts
New Delhi, Sep 30: Blasts marked the beginning of Navaratri festival this season. Two low intensity blasts rocked Gujarat and communally sensitive Malegaon in Maharashtra on Monday, Sep 29 nignt at 2130 hrs. According to reports, three were dead and seven injured in Malegaon, Maharashtra while one was killed and nine injured in a blast in Modasa town in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. Though Gujarat was on high alert after 17 crude bombs were recovered from Ahmedabad area, Malegaon was in for a shock.

sequence
of
Mehrauli
blast
in
Delhi,
two
men
came
on
a
motorcycle
and
threw
the
bomb
at
the
Suka
market
in
Modasa.
The
blast
was
so
severe
that
it
destroyed
two
motorcycles
parked
nearby
and
an
electric
pole,
police
said.
The
police
cordoned
off
the
area
and
a
sniffer
dog
squad
was
rushed
along
with
the
bomb
disposal
squad.
According to initial reports, crude bombs were used in the two blasts. Meanwhile, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah condemned the blast and said the situation in Modasa was under control.
The blast in Malegaon occurred outside Noorani Masjid. Following the blasts, a mob attacked the police station in the vicinity and the police had to fire in the air to control the agitating crowd.
The panic after the blast led to a stampede in which several people including three policemen were injured, police said.
