Centre to provide free IT education to NE youths
Agartala, Sep 30 (UNI) In a bid to ensure expansion of Information Technology education among the youth of Northeastern sates, the Centre has decided to provide free IT training by setting up the Gandhi Institution of Information Technology (GIIT).
Official sources here today said the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an internationally acclaimed academic institution, had been entrusted with the responsibility to impart IT education initially at their centres at Guwahati and Jorhat (Assam), Shillong (Megahalaya), Agartala (Tripura), Kohima (Nagaland) and Gangtok (Sikkim).
The initiative would be financed by the Prime Minister's special fund to provide three months free IT education to NE youths, besides 30 other GIITs in various parts of the country, the officials added.
