Kakinada,Andhra Pradesh, Sep 30 (UNI) Under the action plan to be launched on October two, the East Godavari District would become child labour free by 2010.
District Child Labour Project Incharge Project Director G S S V Prasad, also the Deputy commissioner of Labour, told the media here today the Centre had earmarked the required funds for effective implementation of the project.
A district resource centre would be opened shortly to coordinate various departments and NGOs involved in liberation and rehabilitation of child labour from both hazardous and non-hazardous industries.
He said initially 530 child labourers in the age group of 14-17 were identified for imparting vocational training with assured placements in private industries in and around Kakinada under the skill development programme.
The identified children would be provided vocational training in trades such as carpentery,welding, fitter, electrician, rod bending.
The programme would be launched on October two in the district.
