Patna, Sep 30 (UNI) IDEA Cellular, a part of the USD 28 billion Aditya Birla Group, today announced the launch of its GSM mobile services in Bihar and Jharkhand from October 1.
Addressing a press conference here, IDEA Director, Operations, Ambarish P Jain said the company, which had already set up 14 circles across the country, would set up its 15th circle in Bihar and Jharkhand.
In the first phase, IDEA would offer services to over 1,50,00,000 people in Bihar and Jharkhand. It would roll out with over 880 cell sites in Bihar and Jharkhand covering over 2,500 towns and villages in both the states. At present 18,000 retailers had been appointed in this circle.
Speaking on the next target of the company, Mr Jain said by March, IDEA would set up over 3,000 cell sites in the region covering more than 6,00,00,000 people of both the states. The number of retailers would be over 50,000 within this stipulated period.
''To provide better cellular services to the customers in comparison to other mobile operators in the market would be the first prirority of IDEA,'' Mr Jain said.
Besides customer care units, the company would set up another service providing unit to be named as 'IDEA POINT', Mr Jain informed.
Prominent among others who addressed the press meet were Circle Head of IDEA Bihar M D Prasad and Chief of Corporate Affairs Rajat Mukherjee.
