Mysore, Sep 30 (UNI) A week-long Dasara Film Festival began here today with galaxy of film personalities present and Actress and Karnataka Film Chamber President Jayamala inaugurating at a colour function.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Jayamala urged the State Government to bring a comprehensive law to curb sale of duplicate CDs.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Shobha Karandalaje assured that a law would be introduced to arrest sale of duplicate CDs. " I will discuss the issue with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa soon." Renowned film personalities including Director Girish Kasaravalli, Producer Basanthkumar Patil, actress Umashri, Photographer S Ramachandra, Music Director Rajan, Ms Parvathi Lokesh were honoured on the occasion for their lifetime achievement.
More than 60 award winning films of Kannada and other languages would be screened in seven theaters in the City.
Meanwhile a week-long Dasara Food Festival was declared open by Ms Karandalaje, who is also District Incharge Minister. Eating competition for the youth would be conducted during the festivities.
