Jaipur, Sep 30: The death toll of the Jodhpur stampede has increased to 75 and has left 150 injured. The death toll is still mounting in the stampede that occured on Tuesday, Sep 30 morning during the Navratra Stapana ceremony at the ancient Chamunda Mata Temple in the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur. A Police spokesman told sources by phone that a large number of devotees thronged the temple for the ceremony when suddenly the crush occurred around 0630 hrs.
The injured were admitted to Mathura das Mathur Hospital, Mahatma Gandhi Hospital and various other hospitals, he added. The situation was so grave at the hospitals that it was yet to be ascertained as how many died on the spot and how many were injured succumbed later on.
Meanwhile, Crisis Management Minister Laxmi Narain Dave left for Jodhpur along with other high officials.
