Melbourne, Sept.29 : Former Australian leg spinner Shane Warne has criticized the producers of a musical about him, saying there is nothing musical about his life.

Expressing disappointment over a musical being made on him titled "Shane Warne - The Musical", Warne was quoted by news.com.au as saying that there should be a law against writing about people's lives without permission.

The musical premieres in Melbourne in December before touring nationally.

"I have had 13 unauthorised biographies done in my life and the first one I read was completely wrong. So the people who actually buy those suddenly start to believe that to be the case," Warne said.

"I just think that it shouldn't be allowed. You should have permission off anyone to write about their life, that should be the law."

The 24-song show, from the team behind the successful musical Keating!, stars singer-comedian Eddie Perfect, who also wrote the songs with titles including Take the Pill and What an SMS I'm in.

Warne said friends had seen previews of the show and told him to expect "good parts and bad parts", but he was unsure whether he would see it.

"It is hard when it's you and you're involved. It is different for other people to see it but when it's you it affects you differently because you went through that.

"I'm a pretty easy target for a few cheap jokes but I brought some of that on myself."

Producer Kevin Whyte, of Token Events, said the show aimed to reach beyond the headlines to find the human side of "Warnie".

He said the show had more meaning because it was an independent creative view, rather than a press release

The show runs at Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre from December 7 to 21 but dates have not yet been announced for other cities.
