Hyderabad, Sep 29 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party core committee on Telangana today completed its task of eliciting opinion from party leaders, workers and people from different walks of life on the vexed issue of statehood for the region.
TDP Parliamentary Party leader K Yerran Naidu, MP, along with other core committee members, E Dayakar Rao and K E Krishnamurthy, told reporters here that the committee would submit its report to the party President N Chandrababu Naidu in the first week of October.
The party polit bureau, the highest decision-making body would take a final decision on the sensitive issue taking into consideration the views expressed by different sections of partymen and general public, he added.
Earlier, after meeting with the core committee members, senior party leader G Sukinder Reddy told reporters that the party should withdraw its letter to United Progressive Alliance Sub-committee on Telangana headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee in support of unified Andhra Pradesh and take a fresh stand in favour of separate Telangana.
Making it clear that the TDP was not against Telangana, he said Mr Naidu had constituted the Core Committee for arriving at ''an appropriate decision at an appropirate time'' which would be acceptable to the people of the three regions of the state.
