Patiala, Sep 29 (UNI) Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan today tendered an unconditional apology to the media fraternity over manhandling of two local photo journalists by his security staff during the shooting of an untitled film in the city last night.
The compromise was reached between two sides here this evening when the actor himself requested the General Railway Police(GRP) to arrange a meeting with the media at their guest house.
Later talking to mediapersons, Saif said, '' it was unfortunate for us that things like this happened and I as producer of the unit, take full responsibility of the episode''.
While tendering the apology, he however denied that he was involved in the scuffle and claimed that his security staff had misbehaved with the journalists which was said.
He later shook hands with the journalists of the vernacular daily who had lodged the complaint against him and his security guards.
The incident happened when some photo journalists were trying to click photographs of Saif at the Railway station, where shooting of the movie was in progress.
Photo journalist Pawan Kumar of Dainik Jagran and Lalit Kohli of a local TV news channel were trying to take shots of the shooting of which was objected by Saif. The actor had instructed his security staff to snatch cameras from the journalists, Bhupesh Chatha, the district in charge of Dainik Jagran claimed.
The security staff immediately reacted and got hold of the journalists and snatched their cameras and Identily cards.
Thereafter Saif lodged a complaint against the two journalists at the General Railway police station accusing them of misbehaving with his security staff.
The news of manhandling of scribes spread like fire in the city and mediapersons assembled at SBOP chowk on Mall road last night and demanded action against the actor.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was in the city today directed senior Akali leader Prem Singh Chandumajra and BJP MLA Raj Khurana to pacify the journalists. On the demand of the journalists a case of manhandling was registered against Saif and his security guards by the Railway police. The case was later withdrawn after compromise.
