Patna, Sep 29 (UNI) The RJD today took strong exception to the sale of power to other states from Bihar quota allotted by the Centre and termed it as ''great injustice'' to people.

Senior RJD leader and former minister Jagdnand Singh as well as the party's national spokesperson Shyam Rajak told newspersons here that the Nitish Kumar government was meting out great injustice to the people of Bihar by selling power to other states, received from the Central Pool.

''Currently, the power generation in Bihar from its own thermal power plant is virtually zero and the state was totally dependent on 1,400 MW quota from the Central Pool for meeting its demands'', the RJD leaders said.

He added that despite availing 1,000 MW from the Centre, most parts of the state were reeling under darkness.

The RJD leaders wondered how the Nitish Kumar government was selling power to other states which was given to Bihar from the Central Pool.

''Bihar is receiving power at a rate of Rs two per unit, while the same is being sold to other states at the rate of Rs eight per unit'',the RJD leaders said adding the state government was not supposed to make money by pushing the masses in hardship.

''After the UPA government came to power at the Centre, the quota of power for Bihar was increased from 600 MW to 1,400 MW,'' they informed.

The RJD leaders maintained that Bihar currently obtained 1,000 MW power from the Central Pool, while such figure stood at 600 MW during the Vajpayee government at the Centre.
