Mighty 'fairy queen' ready for Mysore Dasara
Mysore, Sep 29: The South Western Railway as part of its efforts to promote tourism has planned to show case the Indian Railway heritage with the oldest working engine 'Fairy Queen' on tracks once again after 142 years during ensuing famous Dasara festivities.
Addressing media persons, South Western Railway senior heritage Manager Anurag said that the majestic fairy queen would rolled out in a trip from Mysore-Nanjangud for three days on Oct 2, 5 and 8. The 142 year old locomotive will run twice a day and purely for the guests and invites only. Since the capacity was only 360 seats, however, fairy queen would be kept in the Mysore Railway station for the general public.
The fairy queen trip trial was run between Mysore-Nanjangud on Monday, Sep 29 with media persons and other officials.
