Mumbai, Sep 29 (UNI) The crime branch of Mumbai police today nabbed a person from Pokhran in Rajasthan for demanding Rs 25 crore as extortion money from Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Addressing newspersons here, Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria said that on September 26, accused Devisingh Padamsingh Rajpurohit (25) had sent an SMS to Mr Bachchan, demanding Rs 25 crore as extortion money within three days and threatened to kill him otherwise.
Subsequently, Mr Bachchan lodged a complaint with police and during the investigation, it was came to light that the mobile number was from Rajasthan.
A Mumbai police team rushed to Pokharan and arrested the culprit.
''They are on the way to Mumbai,'' Mr Maria said, adding that the accused was a look alike of Abhishek Bachchan and had played small roles in one or two Bollywood films.
