Kerala Government to acquire land for factory: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 29(UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the Government would acquire 900 acres of land for setting up the proposed Railway Coach Factory at Palakkad.
Talking to newspersons here after the weekly cabinet meeting, he said the cabinet had given its approval and the land would be acquired at Pudussery village in Palakkad district on Fast Track system.
The government had already appointed the necessary staff for acquiring the land, he added.
The Centre had given its approval for the Rs 5,000-crore railway coach factory proposed at Kanjikode in Palakkad district and the railway officials had inspected the proposed site.
The Chief Minister had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and invited him to lay the foundation stone for the factory. The PM was expected to lay the foundation stone in June or July next year.
