Bangalore, Sep 29 (UNI) 'Akshaya Patra,' the world's largest NGO-run school meal programme, today announced that it had achieved the FSMS ISO 22000:2005 certification.
A release here said the kitchens certified included North Bangalore, South Bangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hubli-Dharwad and Vrindavan.
This was a first-of-its-kind certification ever to be given to an NGO-managed food programme in the world, it claimed.
'Akshaya Patra' currently feeds over 9.40 lakh children in over 4,500 government and Anganwadi schools across India.
Akshaya Patra Vice Chairman Chanchalapati Das said ''we are proud to get this certification. It is a culmination of our efforts to ensure that we have world-class facilities to improve our services to the underprivileged children.'' UNI MSP SJ AB VC2107
