Flood in UP hits 23 districts; over 1,150 dead

Lucknow, Sep 29 (UNI) As many as 5,188 villages of 23 districts were adversely affected by floods in Uttar Pradesh.

So far, 1,158 people have died in the floods, while the deluge has hit the lives of nearby 3.60 lakh population.

Providing this information, UP Relief Commissioner G K Tandon said all in all 87,581 people were taken to safer places during the rescue operations.

Besides, 3,85,449 houses have collapsed and crops sowed on 4.50 lakh hectares land adversely affected by deluge, Mr Tandon informed.

The floods have caused a total loss of Rs 33562.77 lakh of the public property, he said, adding 1530 animals also died in the flood havoc.
