New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) Enterprises located in Delhi are generating more employment in comparison to other States and Union Territories, according to a report released today.
The report on un-organised manufacturing enterprises in Delhi, prepared by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the Delhi Government, further said the gross value added per enterprise in the national capital is about six times higher than the national average.
The report, based on the sample survey conducted under 62nd NSS round during 2005-06, was released by Delhi Finance and planning Minister A K Walia.
Releasing the report, Dr Walia said the average employment per enterprises in Delhi is 4.78, which is the highest among all the States and Union Territories.
At the national level, the average employment per enterprise is 2.13. Average Employment per Enterprise in un-organised Manufacturing sector in Haryana is 2.4, Maharastra 2.6, Uttar Pradesh 2.2, Punjab 2.1 and in Rajasthan 2.0.
Dr Walia said the Gross Value Added of enterprises operating in the un-organised Manufacturing Sector in Delhi was about Rs 3,287.87 crore during 2005-2006.
The Gross Value Added per enterprises per annum in the un-organised Manufacturing Sector in Delhi is Rs 3.26 lakh, which is about six times higher than the national average, which is Rs 51,307. Delhi's rank is second among all the States and Union Territories, as far as Annual Gross Value Added per enterprise is concerned.
The Gross Value Added per worker per annum in Delhi is Rs 68,278 as compared to Rs 24,034 at the national level and Delhi's rank is fifth in the country.
The Gross Value Added per worker per annum in Delhi increased from Rs 42,585 in 2000-01 to Rs 68,278 in 2005-06, indicating growth of 60 per cent during the last five years.
However, at the national level, the Gross Value Added per worker increased from Rs 16,233 in 2000-01 to Rs 24,034 in 2005-06 indicating a growth of 48 per cent.
The result shows that the workers of Delhi are more productive as compared to the national level.
Dr Walia said that 1,00,740 un-organised Manufacturing Enterprises are functioning in Delhi, out of which 15,040 (15 per cent of the total) were own accounts enterprises (household enterprises where no hired worker is engaged) and 85,700 (85 per cent) were establishments.
About 0.59 per cent of the total un-organised Manufacturing Enterprises in the country are located in Delhi. About 4.82 lakh persons were working in unorganised Manufacturing Enterprises in Delhi during 2005-06.
Out of this, 3.43 lakh (71 per cent) were hired workers, 1.13 lakhs (23 per cent) were owners.
Moreover, 4.63 lakh were male and 0.19 lakh (4 per cent of the total) were female.
Out of 1.01 Lakhs Enterprises operating in the Un-organised Manufacturing sector in Delhi, about 28.29 per cent (28,495 units) are manufacturing Wearing Apparels etc.
About 22.00 per cent (22,165) are of Fabricated Metals Products and 7.25 per cent (7,300) were Furniture.
The Survey revealed that about 28.21 per cent (1.36 Lakhs) employees are working in Wearing Apparels units followed by 21.46 per cent(1.03 lakh) in Fabricated Metals Products units and 6.64 per cent (0.32 lakhs) in Publishing and Printing.
As far as type of ownership of enterprises is concerned 93.44 per cent were proprietary, 6.54 per cent partnership, and 0.02 per cent were other type of enterprises.
The Survey also revealed that 23 per cent of the total Un-organised Manufacturing Enterprises in Delhi are registered under some Acts/Authority in 2005-06 as compared to about six per cent registered during 2000-01.
Moreover, 38 per cent of the total enterprises were maintaining proper accounts in 2005-06 as compared to 7 per cent in 2000-01.
