New Delhi, Sept 29 (UNI) The Centre is in touch with the Chhattisgarh Government and the Central Reserve Police Force officials following naxal attack on a CRPF party in Dantewada district which killed four people, including a senior CRPF official.

Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta spoke to DGP of Chhattisgarh and CRPF authorities following landmine blast at Narainpur Road in Dantewada district, a home ministry spokesman said here today.

The CRPF party was on patrol in the area which had earlier witnessed some naxal incidents.

He said President Pratibha Devisingh Patil's programme was at Chitrakote, about 30 kilometers from the spot, and the incident was unrelated to her visit.

Four CRPF personnel, including a Deputy Commander, were killed and three others injured when Maoist naxalites ambushed the police jeep on patrol duty during the President's visit to the famous Chitrakote waterfall on the Indrawati river in Bastar district.

Mrs Patil was watching the picturesque waterfall when the naxalites triggered the landmine explosion, blowing up the police jeep on the Chitrakote-Barsur road. The President returned to the state capital Raipur as per schedule by a helicopter.

Deputy Commander Diwakar Mahapatra and jeep driver L K Kora were killed on the spot, while Head Constable S B Verma and Constable N K Jha died at the government hospital here.

The seriously injured were being shifted to Raipur medical college hospital in a helicopter.
