Blast during President's visit: CRPF jawan killed
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Sep 29(UNI) A CRPF jawan was killed on the spot and five others injured when Maoist naxalites ambushed a police vehicle today near Bastar's Chitrakote waterfall during President Pratibha Devisingh Patil's visit to the tourist spot.
A jeep carrying CRPF jawans was patrolling the area when naxalites triggered the land mine blast around 1130 hours about 8 Km from the waterfall, police sources said.
The blast site is located near Mardum village on Chitrakote-Barsur road in the naxal affected tribal belt.
The seriously injured CRPF jawans were being sent to Raipur and other places by helicopter, the sources said.
The President on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh later left for Raipur at 1210 hours, the sources added.
