1 killed in road accident, people hand over Rs 2.5 lakh to police
Coimbatore, Sep 29 (UNI) Exihibiting humanitarian qualities, people handed over Rs 2.5 lakh to the police, which they found in an accident victim's bag after he was hit by a bus here this evening.
Police said 36-year-old Jebaraj, an iron merchant, was on the way to his shop with the cash, on a two wheeler. When he was riding towards Avinasi road, he was hit by a government owned bus. He was killed on the spot.
His bag, which contained the cash, was found on the road. Some people who saw the currency notes flying around, immediately collected them and handed them over to the police along with the remaining money in the bag.
The body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, police added.
