SBI pensioners to stage dharna on Sep 29

Vijayawada, Sep 28 (UNI) As part of the country-wide call given by the Federation of State Bank of India Pensioners' Association (SBIPA), about 200 pensioners from Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts would stage a daylong dharna in front of SBI Zonal Office here on September 29 to mount pressure on the UPA government to solve their long pending demands.

Talking to UNI, SBIPA Deputy General Secretary Rama Krishna Rao said the federation had called upon the pensioners to hold a dharna again on October 6 if the Centre failed to consider their demands which included immediate revision of pension in respect of seventh Bipartite retirees, approval of the proposals pending with the Government regarding revision of pension ceiling to 50 per cent of pay and allowance, 100 per cent dearness allowance Neutralisation to pensioners and family pensioners, upgradation of pension to all earlier retirees and improvement in family pension and commutation.

Mr Rao said the Centre so far was ''silent'' on addressing the demands even though a memorandum was sent to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on September 24.

About 50,000 pernsioners would sit on a dharna in front of different SBI zonal offices in various states tomorrow, he added.
