Medical College, Flying academy and HC bench for Dumka: Soren

Dumka, Sep 27 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren today made a series of announcements, including establishment of medical college and flying academy in this district, which also happens to be his Parliamentary segment.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Soren said he would leave no stone unturned for development of this tinsel town which, he alleged, remained marginalised during the erstwhile governments in the state.

''The area always remained in the limelight because of its political strength but was still under developed,'' Mr Soren said.

Speaking about the need of flying academy Mr Soren said at present the aviation sector needed more than 10,000 pilots and the insitute would also help to provide better employmwent opportunities for the youths here.

Besides, a sports complex would also be constructed with a fund of about Rs 19 crore, Mr Soren said.

Briefing about his meeting with Union Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan, he said the latter had requested to identify land for establishing a steel processing unit.

Criticising the demands of amendment in Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act, he said there was no need of any amendment as the entire area was known because of this Act.

''People could give their lands for the benefit of the nation but they have to be resettled first,'' the Chief Minister said, adding that land owners should also get adequate compensation in the form of jobs.

He also announced to convert the Govindpur-Sahebganj road into a four-lane one by spending about Rs 800 crore.

To a query, he said the government would also try to establish a High Court bench here.
