Vijaya Bank to enlarge its rural development programmes
Mangalore, Sep 27 (UNI) Vijaya Rural Development Foundation (VRDF) sponsored by public sector Vijaya Bank promoting water harvesting and soil conservation at rural areas has plans to extend its activities to more districts in the state.
Addressing at the 17th Annual General body meeting of the VRDF here today its president Premanath Alva said that the foundation has planned to expand its activities to other parts of the state and enroll more members.
He said that the Foundation besides promoting water harvesting and soil conservation also plans to identify suitable resource persons who could work at village level and impart latest technologies to adopt in the agriculture activities by the farmers.
During 2007-08, the foundation had organized a total of 48 programmes involving about 3200 farmers/youths and the sponsor bank has donated Rs 40 lakhs for the same he said.
