U'khand Govt committed to people's security: Khanduri
Dehra Dun, Sep 27 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri has assured the people of the state that his government was committed to their security after a delegation of Christians called on him to voice their concern over the murders of two minorities in the city.
The delegation comprised of Archbishop Patrick Nayar from the Catholic Church, Meerut Division MLA Karen Hilton, Father A Anthony from Cleat Town Church and several other priests who met Mr Khanduri here yesterday.
Assuring the delegation that the people of the state co-existed in peace and harmony, Mr Khanduri said the state police had constituted four teams to investigate the murder of Father Samuel and his follower Mercy and asked the people to keep faith in the government's administration.
He also appealed that the murders should not be linked to any conspiracy and said there were chances that it could be a case of attempted robbery.
Mr Khanduri said he had issued instructions to the police to beef up security in places of worship and was hopeful that the case would be solved soon.
The bodies of Father Samuel and Mercy were found at the Samarparane Ashram in Chota Rampur village in Sahaspur on September 21.
Though the police have not made any breakthrough in the case they have zeroed in on a former servant as the prime suspect.
