Phagwara, Sep 27 (UNI) In a major success, Phagwara Police has arrested six members of an inter-state gang, including two former hardcore terrorists, allegedly involved in in stealing luxary cars in different states and selling these with fake documents on higher prices.
The former terrorists were identified as Nishan Singh alias Shana of Khalistan Guerilla Force' and Dilbag Singh alias Ladha of 'Khalistan Commando Force', DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told newsmen here today.
He said that Nishan Singh was living with fake identity in local mohalla Kaulsar Khottra while Dilbag Singh had spent seven years in jail on the charge of crossing Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan in 1991.
All the six were arrested following a tip off under different sections of the IPC and the Arms Act during a nakabandhi on the Phagwara-Hadiabad road, the DSP said.
Police has recovered two 12 bore pistols, two live cartridges, two sharp-edged weapons from their possession and impounded two stolen cars from them. However, their three accomplices were still absconding.
During their interrogation, the accused have confessed their crime of stealing luxary cars from different states and selling them after preparing fake documents. They have also admitted their involvement in the theft of several trucks and tractors.
They were produced before local judicial magistrate who sent them in judicial custody.
