Sonia to launch free plot scheme in Haryana
Chandigarh, Sep 27 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will launch the ambitious 'Mahatma Gandhi Grameen Basti Yojana' on October two at Panipat in Haryana by allotting residential plots of 100 sq yards each to the families belonging to the Scheduled Castes and those living Below the Poverty Line (BPL).
This was announced by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing a meeting of workers of the Congress party here today.
Mr Hooda had made the announcement about the allotment of residential plots in the presence of Ms Sonia Gandhi at the 'Bijli Rally' at Jharli village in Jhajjar district on October seven last.
Ms Sonia Gandhi, who is also AICC President, would address 'Samajik Kranti Rally' at Panipat the same day.
Mr Hooda said out of about 7000 villages in the state, land had been made available for plots in 5000 villages. The government would soon acquire land for the remaining villages.
He said that basic amenities would be provided at the colonies of such plots and thereafter plots would be alloted so that people get the facilities like electricity, water and parks.
The cost of developing each plot would be Rs 25,000.
Mr Hooda said that another purpose of this rally would be to make the common man aware of what the present Haryana government had been doing for the welfare of the masses.
