New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Himachal-based public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) has declared the highest ever divdend of Rs 244 crore for the year 2007-08 and presented the final dividend cheque of Rs 81 crores to the Minister Sushilk Kumar Shinde today.
The dividend amount was paid on the 75 per cent equity participation of the government.
The company had earlier paid Rs 102 crore as interin dividend to the government.
Presenting the cheque SJVNL Chairman and Managing Director H K Sharma said that during the year 2007-08 the company had achieved the highest net profit of Rs 764.51 crore against Rs 732.71 crore acheived last year.
Power Secretary Anil Razdan along with many senior officials of the Ministry of Power were also present at the function.
During the year 2007-08, the country's largest 1,500 Mega Watts (MW) Nathpa Jhakri Power Station being operated by SJVNL had generated 6,449 Million Units (MU) of electricity as against 6,014 MU during the previous year.
The company has been awarded the 'Mini Ratna and Schedule A' status by the government for its performance of four years after coming into full commercial generation in the year 2004.
The company after commissioning the largest underground 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Power Station has taken up a number of projects for execution.
These includes Rampur Hydro Electric Project (412 MW) in Himachal pradesh and Devsari Hydro Electric Project (252 MW), Jakhol Sankri Hydro Electric Project (45 MW), Naitwar Mori hydro Electric Project (56 MW) in Uttarakhand State.
Further, SJVNL has also been allocated 775 MW Luhri Hydro Electric Project, 1,020 MW Khab Hydro Electric Project and 40 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project.
The process of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and execution of these projects thereafter is the process.
