Shillong, Sep 27 (UNI) A number of organisations in Meghalaya have submitted an ultimatum to the MPA government urging to fulfil their demands within a fortnight.

The organisations, including Khasi Students Union, Federation of Khasi Jaintia Garo Peoples, Hynnewtrep National Youth Federation Freedom project, AITUC, among others submitted six point charter of demands to the state government.

The demands included among other things to revise daily wages of workers, revision of schedule of work that falls under the minimum wages act in the state to include all kinds of jobs and employment.

The state government was supposed to revise the wages in January this year but nothing has been done so far, they said and alleged that the minimum wage in the state was one of the lowest in the country and other rights of workers were not respected.

The ultimatum requested the government to meet the demand within 15 days failing which it would launch agitation throughout the state to achieve its goal.
