Notorious gangster held in Patna
Patna, Sep 27 (UNI) A notorious gangster, carrying Rs 50,000 award on his head, was arrested from Patna city locality here today.
Inspector General(Operation) S K Bhardwaj said that acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and local police raided a hide-out in Patna city locality and arrested Zahid from there.
On a clue provided by the arrested gangster during interrogation, a raid was conducted at his ancestral village Kusmihi village under Salkhua police station area in Saharsa district.
''A cache of firearms, including a sofisticated carbine and a pistol, were recovered during the search operation at the ancestral village of the gangster'', Mr Bhardwaj said, adding a bulletproof jacket and several other incriminating articles were also recovered.
Zahid was wanted in connection with several cases, including of murder, kidnapping and extortion.
The gangster was also involved in the killing of a DSP Satpal Singh and two jawans of Central Para Mililtary Forces in Saharsa in 1998.
