Allahabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Stressing upon bringing revolution in modern science, former president and emminent scientist A P J Abdul Kalam asked the youth to make the country a superpower by going to the zenith of science.
While addressing the students in Shambhunath Institute of Engineering and technology this morning, the Bharat Ratna Dr Jainabdin Kalam said modern science is a tool through which the youth can change the picture of the country.
He said India has a glorious past and is progressing on the path of development, however a revolution in science could make it a developed country in the near future.
On his second day of Allahabad tour, he made the students take a vow to not indulge in corrupt practices like bribery.
Later, the Nobel laureate addressed the students and faculty members of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) here, where he said India has to become ''Knowledge System Powerhouse'' instead ''software system powerhouse.'' Speaking on the topic ''Knowledge GRID for Transforming India'', the 'Missile Man' called upon thousands of IIIT students that the mission of IT in India should be to transform into knowledge products and services leading to Knowledge Grid resulting in the creation of knowledgable society. IIIT graduates have to transform into knowledge professionals enriched with the value system drawn from our civilisation heritage, he maintained.
''This mission will have an impact on the society and help in eradicating illiteracy, unemployment by providing employable education and enriching the teachers at all levels. It has to enrich not only the communication area, but provide the leverage to multiple sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing and delivery of social services.
IIIT Director MD Tiwari who welcomed the Chief Guest said it was a great honour that Dr Kalam visited the institute for the second time and reviewed its progress in the last 10 year.
Chief Justice Allahabad High Court HL Gokhle and Supreme Court Justice Markandey Katju in their address said Dr Kalam had maintained the high standards being the President of India.
