Jogi flays Raman govt for Math land acquisition
Raipur, Sep 27 (UNI) Chhattisgarh's former chief minister Ajit Jogi has strongly criticised Dr Raman Singh-led BJP government for acquisition of land belonging to the ancient 'Math' of Kabirpanthis at Kudurmal in Korba district for LANCO's Amarkantak Thermal Power Project.
In a statement here today, Mr Jogi said Kabirpanthis across the country attached great significance to Kudurmal Math as the faith was spread from there. The BJP government should not play with the religious sentiments of Kabirpanthis, he said.
''Any industrial group, however high it may be, should not be allowed to play with the religious sentiments of the common people'', the tribal leader said, adding the BJP government had set a bad precedent by allowing acquisition of the Math's land.
Along with being an important religious place, Kudurmal Math has much archaeological importance also and it is unfortunate that the Math property was acquired without consulting the Archaeological Survey of India, Mr Jogi added.
