JMM MLA surrenders in Jharkhand
Bokaro, Sep 27 (UNI) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA from Dumri Assembly seat, Jagganath Mahto, today surrendered in a case of manhandling lodged in Chadrapura police station in the district.
Besides the 15-year-old manhandling case, Mahto was also facing murder charges. He surrendered in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate Dinesh Kumar Mishra, pleading for bail on health grounds.
Public prosecutor Ramadhar Rai said the court turned down the MLA's plea and ordered to keep him in the local jail.
The court had also declared Mahto an absconder, after he failed to appear on several dates.
