Floods tear apart CM's claim of good governance: CPI (ML)
Patna, Sep 27 (UNI) CPI(ML) General Secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya today alleged that catastrophic floods in north Bihar had exposed the hollow claims of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on providing good governance in the state.
Addressing a function organised here by the party, Mr Bhattacharya alleged that the catastrophic flood in north Bihar was the result of the criminal negligence of the state administration, despite claims of Mr Kumar that all flood protection works had been completed before the onset of monsoon.
''The floods in north Bihar was the result of the nexus among ruling party leaders, engineers and contractors who conspired to create a situation for the same in their own interests'', Mr Bhattacharya said.
He added that the poor relief and rescue operations in the hour of natural calamity had exposed the hollowness of the claim of the chief minister on providing good governance to people of the state.
The CPI(ML) leader alleged that the Nitish Kumar government had failed to properly execute the various welfare schemes including National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREGA) scheme in the state sponsored by the Centre.
