Margao, Sep 27 (UNI) Capitalising on home advantage reigning Champions Dempo Sports club is looking to begin their ONGC I-league campaign with a win against JCT, when both lock horns at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda tomorrow.
Dempo coach Arman Coloco said, ''JCT is a good team and we cannot underestimate any team.'' Pointing out that the dates of State Professional League, ONGC I-league and AFC Cup are clashing, he said, ''We will be focusing more on AFC Cup matches as we have bright chances to reach the final.'' Dempo has already secured a semi-final borth in the AFC cup.
The well knit Dempo has a good team combination, the defence is being disciplined and the midfield is moving well. Their attacking line up will be spearheaded by Ranty Martin, upcoming youngster Cliffton Gonsalves or Joqueim Abranches.
The midfield, comprising Roberto Mandes Silva (Beto), Nicolas Borgues, Nascimeto Silveria, Climax Lawrence combine well in the middle and defence will be marshalled by Mahesh Gawali, John Dias, Valeriano Rebello and Creson Antao, besides Dempo, which also has a good bench strength.
''Dempo is a good team and it is nice to play with top team in the opening matches. If we win, it will provide a boost for other matches,'' JCT coach Sukhwinder Singh said.
Dempo played few matches before the I-League and it was a good practice for them. JCT too played in the Durand cup but lost to Mahindra United in the semi-finals.
