Vijay Kumar Malhotra to be BJP's CM candidate for Delhi
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and its Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra has been chosen as the party's chief ministerial candidate for the coming assembly elections in Delhi.
Making the announcement, BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said the decision about Mr Malhotra was taken by the Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the party and the party Central Election Committee which met at the party's Headquarters today.
Mr Malhotra, who had the distinction of defeating Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections rptg 1999 Lok Sabha elections, is MP from South Delhi constituency. Presently, he is the party's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha.
Mr Arun Jaitley, Mr Vijay Goel, and BJP Delhi State president Harsh Vardhan were the hot contenders for chief ministerial nomination.
